The astounding virtuosity of Pianafiddle returns to our stage! Is it bluegrass? Is it jazz? Is it classical, old time, ragtime, or blues? If it’s Pianafiddle performing, the answer is YES! Beginning only with a familiar tune, concert violinist and fiddler Adam DeGraff (a former Concert Master with the Richmond Symphony) and jazz pianist Randy Morris improvise as they go, blending the traditional, the unwritten, and the spontaneous in compelling performances that range literally from Bach to Bluegrass. The exciting and touching renditions of their music will amaze you!

Randy Morris, who also plays banjo, trumpet, guitar, mandolin, and accordion at a professional level, has enjoyed a long musical career as a jazz and ragtime pianist, including a 38-year stint with Disney where he wrote, directed, and performed in thousands of shows.  Sought after for his breathtaking musicianship and his sizzling technical abilities, Randy has also toured nationally and internationally, playing along side some of the world’s most famous entertainers including Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Marvin Hamlisch, and perhaps the most famous of them all, Kermit The Frog. (Or at least he played the real banjo as Jim Henson helped Kermit strum along.)

Adam DeGraff is a classically trained concert violinist turned fiddler.  Having attended Northwestern University and Rice University, Adam went on to perform with a number of professional orchestras, most recently acting as concertmaster and soloist with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra.  In a career move that surprised many from the classical music world, Adam left the symphony orchestra to become a nationally recognized, award winning fiddle player, receiving a great deal of critical acclaim for his “positively pyrotechnic” fiddle playing.  Though Adam and Randy come from different sides of the musical tracks, Pianafiddle brings together the best of all musical worlds. The critics agree that “the duo’s musical communication seemed telepathic, so well did they connect with each other. And with a relaxed stage presence and some homespun joking, they connected equally as well with the audience.”  With countless performances, five CDs, and a full-length concert DVD to their credit, Pianafiddle continues to engross its fans with traditionally grounded yet spontaneous musical creations that unfold onstage …different every time.  Adam and Randy love performing, improvising and playing off one another, and ultimately agree that musical boundaries are meant to be crossed!
