Back by popular demand, the Richmond Symphony returns to present a full “Masterworks” concert.  Under the baton of Daniel Meyer, the critically acclaimed Richmond Symphony will treat us to a variety of beautiful compositions by Brahms, Barber, and others.  The Symphony is one of the largest performing arts organizations in Virginia, and performing for nearly 125,000 people.  Its sold-out classical and pops concerts and its innovative family and educational programs have earned national recognition for high quality.  This performance is supported in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

The Richmond Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1957 by a small, dedicated group of music-lovers who desired to provide Central Virginia with a professional orchestra.  The Symphony performed only three concerts in its inaugural season; today, the orchestra makes more than 200 public appearances each season.   Their music reaches thousands more area residents through weekly radio broadcasts on WCVE-FM.  The Richmond Symphony employ 36 core (full-time) and more than 40 part-time musicians.

The Richmond Symphony is dedicated to achieving excellence in both contemporary and traditional symphonic repertoire.   They incorporate classical, gospel, jazz, and contemporary and popular music into our repertoire, making good music interesting and accessible to everyone.
